Alexey Tumanov

PostDoctoral Researcher
Alexey Tumanov is a PostDoctoral Researcher at the University of California Berkeley, working with Ion Stoica on next generation distributed systems for machine learning applications and frameworks in RISELab. He completed his PhD at Carnegie Mellon University, advised by Greg Ganger, as a member of the Parallel Data Lab and the Intel Science and Technology Center for Cloud Computing. While at CMU, Alexey was awarded a highly prestigious National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Alexander Graham Bell Canada Graduate Scholarship (CGS). Alexey’s dissertation work culminated in the best student paper award  at ACM EuroSys 2016. Prior to Carnegie Mellon, Alexey worked on agile stateful VM replication with para-virtualization at the University of Toronto. Alexey's interest in cloud computing brought him back to academia from industry, where he had worked on the development of cluster middleware responsible for distributed datacenter resource management.
